4 year olds

The average four year-old child asks over four hundred questions a day.

Boy ain't this true! My little niece drills me every time I see her and I swear I only answer about 50 of her questions...

40

The number forty is the only number that, in the English language, has all of its letters in alphabetical order.

I am a freak about putting things alphabetically. My books, movies, shoes (by brand), clothes (by brand), and pretty much everything else I own has been placed alphabetically. Because most people do not think like that, I am able to tell when someone has touched or "messed with" something of mine because it won't be placed back in its alphabetical spot. Ironically, 40 is my favorite number and also my lucky number - and subconsciously I think I chose 40 because it is the only number that all of its letters are in alphabetical order.

Mules

The United States has never lost a war in which mules were used.

For all of you Brian Regan fans, this reminds me of his routine on mules.

Did the U.S. use mules to cause the other countries to laugh to death?

69 Children

The largest number of children born to one woman is recorded at 69. From 1725-1765, a Russian peasant woman gave birth to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets.

Oh this poor woman! Her stomach must have been so stretched out... I wonder if they all had the same father.

Elephants

Elephants are the only mammals that can't jump.

I can just see an elephant trying its little heart out to jump over a tiny stick blocking its path, but cannot because of its genetic make up....

Lethologica

Since this is my first blog, I want to describe one of my hobbies. I like to look for random facts anywhere I can. Most likely my blog will turn into several entries of facts I have found and wanted to comment on. Here is my first one:

The word "lethologica" describes the state of not being able to remember the word you want.

This doubles over as a pet peeve of mine. I am constantly forgetting the word I want to use in daily conversation. I also have the problem of not knowing how to spell the word I want to use, like if I'm writing a letter or a text message, and I often resort to using a different word that I can spell.
